Description:
Provider caused a server fault in an external process.
Severity 16 Description:
Indicates general errors that can be corrected by the user.

Reading sql server error log location from SQL Query

Identifying SQL Server Error Log File used by SQL Server Database Engine can be done by reading SQL Server Error Logs. DBA can execute the XP_READERRORLOG extended stored procedure to read the SQL Server Error Log and search for its location used by the instance of SQL Server.

Solution for Resolving the Error

As previously said, I verified the service account and found that it was configured to NT ServiceMSSQLSERVER.

I modified it to Local System and restarted the service as indicated below.

SQL SERVER – An error was reported by the OLE DB Provider “Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0” for Linked Server “(null). excel-ad-03 access denied
Then it started to work.

SQL SERVER – An error was reported by the OLE DB Provider “Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0” for Linked Server “(null). Excel-ad-04 Access Denied
